And just to be 100% clear here, the blood sucking thing–to my understanding–is not even close to a common practice among Jewish folks. We’re taking only orthodox and possibly even only ultra-orthodox.

That’s an orthodox Jewish thing, actually. Circumcision still happens in the US, and for Christians but it’s usually done at the hospital.
