I heard someone say reading books and collecting books are two separate hobbies, and i think that applies here too
I know a few book collectors.
My personal favorite is a middle aged guy who buys hardback of mostly science fiction and fantasy books, in large bulk boxes.
If he’s already got it, he gives it away. If not, new shelf filler.
He has a cabinet out in front of his house that he puts books in with a sign that says “Free books, please take one” and occasionally other people will leave one or two inside it.
And if he knows anyone that’s interested in specific types of books, he offers up any extras to them first. All around pretty chill dude. Reads maybe one book a year.
The other ones I know are just collectors of old books from previous centuries, and don’t even open them.
Collectors are weird to me. Why collect something you never plan on using? Stamps are one thing, but books?
Not just the books, but the DVDs and action figures too. And model kits. And crafting supplies. And video games.
And board games.
Hey hey. Those boardgames are getting played! Someday.
You store the new games on top of the old games, that’s why the boxes are square
@AwesomeLowlander Please remove this photo. I am in it and it makes me uncomfortable.😜
Prove it, post a COMC. :D
this is why we need neighbourhood community spaces, board game collectors get a place to store them and can find people to play with or just be happy that someone is playing the games!
But what if they bend my cards?
kill them, obviously
Yeah but then they wouldn’t be able to sell 1,000,000 copies for $65 with all the little plastic bits that will get lost as soon as the box opens and need to be replaced.
You clearly aren’t thinking enough about the shareholders… For shame.
But I do agree. I like when breweries, cafes, and bars have board games, but it really sucks to have to go to a money-spend place to play them. I wonder if libraries have them, or would be willing to host a game day or something.

Lots of libraries have pretty decent board game collections. Definitely worth checking yours.
The only thing I do know is that I’m going to know the rules by heart to explain it to my friends when we want to play!
Proceeds to not
This is why I love board games that have 1 player mode, because it retains enough of the multi-player rules that it can stay fresh in your head.
Had a buddy once said he’d teach us a game. He arrives with the box in shrink, asked us to help punch out the pieces, sort, and then proceeded to read from the manual verbatim. 😮💨
Yep. I desperately want to buy all of the awesome games releasing, but pull for validation by not being that friend is equally strong
That’s strike one
Finally broke out Azul which has been sitting on my shelf for two years unopened lol
Fun game!
Any Available Space storage area. The only issue is “When will we play them”
Last week I was on holiday and had brought with me a few smaller games. played 2 of them, one of them we really didn’t like (Qwirkle Cards). So that wasn’t great. :-/ (I have good games in my collection, I had just grabbed a few of the new games that I thought would be fun to play)
